Where Certificates Must Be Posted

  • Passenger & Freight Elevators:Inspection certificate must be posted inside the elevator car in a frame with a transparent cover.
  • Escalators, Moving Walks, Power-Operated Scaffolds: Certificate must be posted on or near the   quipment, also in a transparent-covered frame.

Alternate Posting Location (Optional):
If certificate is kept in the on-site building manager's office, then:

  • Office must be open during normal business hours
  • A notice must be posted in the elevator or at the equipment in a frame or plaque
  • Notice must include an indelible inscription stating:

    "Inspection Certificate is located in the Building Manager’s Office at [location]"

  • Must be a durable frame with a transparent cover
  • Positioned in a conspicuous and accessible location
  • size 6x9 inch for inspector card
